Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides open in their native Google editor with real-time collaboration and autosave, so there's no file locking and no need to leave Jira. PDFs can be edited the same way.

Yes. Using Jira's automation rule builder, you add Google Drive Connector actions like Create folder and Connect a folder, then use smart values such as the issue key and summary to name folders automatically as work items are created or move through your workflow.

By default, anyone with access to a connected folder in Jira can view and edit it, using the app's own simplified permissions. This is different from your actual Google Drive permissions unless an admin turns on Mirror Storage Permissions, which makes access follow your real Google Drive permissions instead. Either way, Jira's own project permissions always take final precedence.
